Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas recently proposed that Chinese students should not be allowed to study advanced science in the United States, but they could study Shakespeare and the Federalist Papers.

There was some mockery of Senator Cotton and the question was asked, “Does Tom Cotton think Shakespeare was American?”

In reality, Shakespeare almost was an American, being an Englishman in the period of time in which the Thirteen English Colonies began to be settled.

Shakespeare has been an important and formative part of American culture, and America is a good place to study Shakespeare.

That’s what the mockers don’t get.

Lately, the United States and Mexico have been criticized for not testing detainees for COVID-19 before deporting them.

So how did we get in this situation?

Guatemala has a consular network in the United States of 17 Guatemalan consulates (with 10 consulates in Mexico).

That’s a rather impressive consular network for a country the size of Guatemala.

The reason is there are a lot of Guatemalans in the United States.

A recent report in the Guatemalan government newspaper says the Guatemalan consular network is monitoring alien detention centers in the United States, to make sure they are following health protocols. It’s the age of COVID-19, you know.

The death count from COVID-19 coronavirus has passed 2000 in Mexico. My condolences to the many families affected by these deaths.

According to a projection made in the Mexican Cabinet in March, 2000 was predicted to be the maximum number who would die from the virus. So that has now been surpassed.

What about the racial theory behind the projection? That’s still unclear, but worth looking into.

NOTES: The spelling “resistence” in the title is synonymous with “resistance” but my look wrong to some readers, though both spellings are considered correct. Also, the title refers to “the Mexican government”, but specifically it was the Mexican Cabinet medical team that proposed the projection and theory.

This Coronavirus Crisis is an opportunity to examine various things about our country’s policies.

One of them is our China policy. There’s a lot to re-evaluate there.

NOTE: Part of the title is “WuFlu Still Slow to Hit Mexico”. Well, “slow” compared to what? Cases of COVID-19 are steadily increasing.

Trump’s much-ballyhooed executive order, like many Trump projects, fell short of expectations. But maybe it’s something to build on.

Our country does need an immigration shutdown.

NOTE: The title of this blog entry, as edited on VDARE.COM, is misleading. The title reads “ARE Mexicans Immune? Coronavirus Death Count Passes 1K”. But nobody claimed that Mexicans are immune. As the blog entry reports, the claim made in the cabinet meeting was that “the Mexican race has greater resistance to this type of virus than other races such as the European”. So an accurate title would be “Are Mexicans More Resistant?…”

During the past year, progress has been made on controlling the border with Mexico. That border had become a major thoroughfare for the illegal crossing not only of Mexicans, but of Central Americans, other Latin Americans, and even people from outside our continent.

As a result of the Trump Tariff Threat and the Coronavirus Crisis, the security situation on the U.S.-Mexican border has improved.

The people smugglers, however, don’t give up easily and are adapting.

Immigrants in the United States, both legal and illegal, send remittances back to relatives in their home countries. These countries have grown accustomed to remittances, and are highly dependent. It’s like a drug.

Because of the coronavirus crisis people many people are no longer working and that includes immigrants. That’s drying up the monetary flow, and NBC news has a story bemoaning this development.
