Over three months, in response to the Trump Tariff Threat, Mexico made a deal with the U.S.

In exchange for avoiding the tariffs, Mexico pledged to reduce the flow of non-Mexicans passing through Mexico to get to the United States.

So three months later, how is that going?

Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, who is also a Democratic presidential Candidate, has along with Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island, proposal a low to combat foreign meddling in U.S. elections.

A statement from Reed indicates that what they really have in mind is Russian meddling.

I don’t want the Russians meddling in our elections either, but any meddling Russians have engaged in pales beside Mexican Meddling.

But our politicians and media are mostly unconcerned about Mexican meddling.

As a result of Trump’s Tariff Threat, Mexico has cracked down harder on non-Mexicans passing through Mexico towards the United States.

This has resulted with fewer people crossing our border, though it needs to drop a lot more. But, it’s progress.

One group of non-Mexicans passing through Mexico are Africans, a group of which are in Tapachula in the state of Chiapas in Mexico. They don’t want to stay there, they want to continue towards the U.S., but Mexican immigration authorities won’t give them paperwork for that.

That’s why there are angry Africans in Mexico.

The growth of the Hispanic population in the United States has been much-discussed in the media.

Are Hispanics assimilating? Are they becoming Americans? Do they have the same interests as other Americans?

Those are more controversial questions, and are questions that one can get into trouble for asking. And yet, they should be asked, and all Americans have a right to discuss these topics.

This is an article I wrote for the Social Contract Journal on this very topic.

Pete D’Abrasco has announced a challenge to incumbent Republican congressman David Rouzer of North Carolina’s 7th District.

D’Abrasco’s campaign press release called for a ten-year moratorium on immigration. Good call.

Even if he doesn’t win (and it’s hard to beat an incumbent), D’Abrasco can bring this proposal before the public.

Many Americans these days retire in Mexico. And they like it. There are some great places to live in Mexico.

However, there are two questions we should ask about it:

  1. What economic reasons in the United States are encouraging Americans to retire in Mexico? Shouldn’t these issues be dealt with?
  2. When these Americans retire to Mexico, what effect does it have on their children and grandchildren back in the United States? Shouldn’t this be considered?

Of course, where one retires is, or might be (depending on the money) a personal choice. And I understand why some people retire in Mexico. But I still think these are questions worthy of consideration.

The recent raids in Mississippi were well-executed, detaining hundreds of illegal alien workers.

Of course, about half were released, which was a mistake, but the government did show what it can do.

In Georgia, poultry workers were afraid it was about to happen in that state, so many workers walked off their job.

In the aftermath of the Mississippi raid, it was noticed in Georgia that some workers had been dismissed. The fear was that this was a prelude to big raids in Georgia.

It shows you that if our government would actively raid businesses which are hiring illegals, that would scare workers and employers in other places.

And by the way, these employers of illegal aliens need to be punished.
